Does Free-Market Reluctance Betray Fear of Who We Really Are?

As you’ve likely heard, McDain’s has drawn a line in the sandbox – tomorrow the Monroeville, PA restaurant will start enforcing its no-children-under-six policy. While many adults are stomping their feet, threatening to take their toys home, or calling in an adult (in this case, a lawyer), there’s one thing that people seem to be unwilling to explore.

I only know one truth when it comes to the Casey Anthony case. And that truth is that I don’t know anything.

Sorry, I also know two more truths: it’s absolutely horrible that a little girl died; and I have no idea how Caylee died.

Apparently, however, I’m in the minority, given the passionate and vociferous explosion of anger on the social networks. And what’s even greater than the level of anger is the absolute certitude that people are condemning a woman whom the court of law has found not guilty. Continue reading →

The problem with Canada Post? They don’t throw deliveries through a hoop into your mailbox or have to feint past a postal opponent to shoot your mail into a community box. If they had, supporters would have welcomed them back with open arms – a case we’ve seen repeated over and over in the sporting world.

The postal lock-out has now been over for a week, thanks to back-to-work legislation from the federal government. Despite the filibustering efforts of the NDP, the Conservatives finally got their chance to use a majority – and they did. Continue reading →

I Swear! Language Matters

They’re powerful words designed to provoke a reaction. For some, that reaction is shock, for others its indifference, whilst some feel revulsion. But the biggest risk with swearing is that words used for emphasis can actually diminish your overall credibility.

California Gaming Law Puts Rules Squarely in Parents’ Hands
