The Slut Walk will be taking place in London this weekend in an attempt to change some people’s perspectives, but no matter how long the skirts are, or how demure the dress code is, will it have an impact on the people for whom the display is intended?
London’s Slut Walk takes place on Sunday and it’s been designed to support a similar action in Toronto. This was all brought about by an ignorant statement by a member of the Toronto police who stated that “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized.” Continue reading

Ali Aref Hamadi asked to leave the same reception due to the presence of an NDP bumper sticker on his car? Who cares?
An election caused by the Harper government’s contempt of parliament charges? Arrogantly suggesting that Canadians don’t care about those same contempt charges? Previous elections called in a way that circumvented the very fixed-election-dates policy implemented? Partisan appointments to a Senate that he promised to make accountable? Promises to decentralize parliamentary power and an election campaign fuelled by promises of truth, accountability, and openness undone by an essential gag order on Ministers and a rationalization of power in the PMO?

Should Shmuel Fahri take down the gaudy ‘For Sale’ and ‘For Rent’ signs that have papered the City of London’s downtown core? Yes – but only if he promises to put bigger and better ones up in their place.
In fact, if the noise caused by the flapping signs is an issue, I’d recommend Fahri simply repaint the entire exterior of his buildings with the words “Space for Rent/Sale.” And use big, garish, gaudy neon colours that will shine in the night. Continue reading
